Hardware Technical Project Lead – ADAS (m/w/d)

We are strengthening our team in R&D at our location in Koblenz.

This position is part of the ZF ADAS & HPC business unit known internally as "Capri." This business unit is planned for divestiture to Harman International, a Samsung company and global innovator in automotive technology, presenting a unique opportunity to be part of an exciting new chapter in the ADAS space.

The Hardware Project Lead (HWPL) is the technical authority and primary decision-maker for all hardware development activities within a project. This includes Electrical, Mechanical, and/or Optical disciplines. The HWPL serves as the single point of contact to the Engineering Project Manager (EPM) for all project hardware-related topics. 

About the role:
This role owns the end-to-end hardware development lifecycle—from concept through production—ensuring alignment with project scope, timing, cost targets, and quality requirements. The HWPL drives execution in accordance with ZF’s product development framework (e.g., EEPM) and leads global cross-functional teams supporting L2/L3+ ADAS systems, including ProAI ECUs and Smart Forward Looking Cameras. 

What you can look forward to as Hardware Technical Project Lead – ADAS (m/w/d):

• Own and manage hardware development timelines, the cross functional interactions with other internal disciplines/suppliers, deliverables, and milestone adherence aligned with EPM
• Identify, assess, and mitigate technical and resource risks throughout the development lifecycle
• Lead issue resolution, change management, and escalation processes
• Plan and coordinate prototype builds for internal validation and customer delivery
• Support hardware bring-up, debugging, and functional verification for prototypes and production-intent designs
• Continuously identify and drive opportunities for design optimization, cost reduction, and scalability into the project design.  Own the project BOM cost performance from a technical perspective
• Serve as the primary technical interface internally and externally, including customers and suppliers
• Lead hardware design reviews, ensuring robustness, manufacturability, and compliance with requirements

Your profile as Hardware Technical Project Lead – ADAS (m/w/d):

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering or related technical field
• Extensive experience in automotive hardware development
• Proven experience leading cross-functional hardware teams
• Strong background in ECU or sensor development (ADAS/AD preferred)

Grading:
Depending on the qualifications and fulfillment of the above tasks. The basic salary entitlement will be determined according to the individual's experience.
