NPM Operation buyer

About the Team:

The Non-Production Material (NPM) Purchasing team plays a critical role in supporting business operations by sourcing indirect goods and services that enable efficient manufacturing and office functions. Working closely with local stakeholders, suppliers, and global commodity teams, the team drives cost optimization, supply continuity, compliance, and process excellence across the organization. What you can look forward to as Indirect Buyer:

• Manage end-to-end NPM sourcing processes from demand identification through purchase order placement for assigned locations and commodities.
• Fulfill business plan targets by driving cost competitiveness, operational continuity, and procurement excellence at country level.
• Analyze, challenge, and consolidate stakeholder requirements to achieve the best balance of cost, quality, and delivery.
• Conduct RFQs, competitive sourcing activities, supplier evaluations, negotiations, contracting, and supplier implementation.
• Implement global commodity strategies while adapting them to local business needs and market conditions.
• Optimize the local supplier base and lead savings initiatives to improve procurement performance and value creation.
• Ensure compliance with ZF purchasing directives, legal requirements, and procurement policies.
• Act as the primary procurement contact for assigned locations and support reporting, process improvements, and special projects.

Your Profile as Indirect Buyer:

• Bachelor's degree or above in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Purchasing, Operations, Project Management, or a related function; Indirect/NPM Purchasing experience is preferred.
• Experience in the automotive industry is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, sourcing methodologies, supplier management, and contract negotiations.
• Proficiency in purchasing and ERP systems such as SAP, QAD, or similar platforms.
• Advanced data analysis skills with the ability to derive insights and support strategic decision-making.
• Fluent communication skills in both Japanese and English, written and spoken, with the ability to work effectively in local and global environments.
• Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and take ownership of results.
