Systems Engineer
Washington, MI, US, 48094
Req ID 43710 | CAT1 Washington, United States
We’re looking for an innovative and passionate Systems Engineer to design, develop and validate ZF’s Steer-by-Wire and Electric Power Steering products as part of the Application Systems and Safety group at our location in Washington, MI. We are a welcoming, close, small team of steering experts, used to solving complex problems in a dynamic environment. We hope you can join us!
Position Requirements:
- Lead the development of ZF’s Steer-by-Wire and Electric Power Steering (EPS) systems. Use your creativity and experience to drive the design of the system’s mechatronics – ECU, motor, sensors and software – to deliver best-in-class safety, reliability and performance for driver controlled and autonomous steering.
- Analyze new customer requirements, develop compliance statements and negotiate the final agreement with the customer. Our customers are globally distributed so you should be willing to travel within the US and abroad for up to two weeks duration, perhaps twice a year.
- Evolve ZF’s core system architecture to meet emerging system requirements, or tailor the core for a customer-specific program.
- Flow-down requirements to mechatronic sub-system design teams, understanding their constraints and challenging them to improve.
- Drive the integration and test of prototype EPS systems, investigate performance and reliability issues and lead their resolution.
- Shape systems engineering practice within ZF – with model-based design and multi-level HIL test capability, we are aiming to define the state-of-the-art.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Systems Engineering or Mechatronics-related field; Master’s degree or better preferred.
- Minimum four years relevant experience
- Track record developing requirements for mechatronic systems.
- Experience using requirements management tools (eg DOORS).
- Experience applying design standards (eg ISO26262) and analysis tools (DFMEA, FTA etc) for safety critical systems.
- Knowledge of modeling languages (UML or SysML) and related modeling tools (eg IBM Rhapsody or Cameo Systems Modeler).
- Experience of data logging, dynamic modeling and statistical analysis and associated tools desired (eg CANape, Matlab/Simulink, Minitab).
- Knowledge of structured problem-solving techniques desired (eg Six Sigma, Shainin Red X).
