We are looking for a new colleague to join our Application Engineering Department in Washington, MI!
Responsibilities:
- Design complex steering wheel and driver air bag assemblies using new or existing technology.
- Create and complete design packages including 3D CAD model and feasibility evaluations.
- Create and complete detail components assuring functionality and manufacturability in accordance with customer and ZF requirements.
- Create and complete detail 2D drawings including up level assemblies and all components.
- Understand all manufacturing processes and tool construction to support product development.
- Assist in problem root cause evaluation and resolution.
- Support program by exporting/importing data to and from CAD systems.
- Able to manage data using ZF and Customer (GM, Lucid, STLA, Rivian) TDM systems.
- Support new quote acquisition activity creating competitive concept designs and proposals.
- Define and create GD&T scheme including datum identification and assigned tolerances based on ASME standards.
- Responsible for customer interface with design studio or customer engineering as required.
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in design related field. Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering preferred.
- 6+ years of design experience that may include interior automotive design, 3D modeling, sheet metal design, plastic molding, diecasting, fasteners design, wiring and assemblies.
- UGNX Primary and/or CATIA V5 Secondary CAD system with design and packaging experience.
- GM and/or Other OEM Teamcenter experience.
- GD&T knowledge.
- Ability to interface well with technical staff and functional department personnel
- Good customer relations skills
