Prototype Build Technician- 1st Shift

ZF is currently looking to fill the role of Prototype Build Technician at its Romeo Prototype Center in Michigan focusing on building prototype airbag modules using automated and manual equipment, hand & power tools. The role entails effective communication with internal team members, engineers, and other support groups.

 

Job Description: 

  • Assemble prototype airbags such as drive airbags, passenger airbags, inflatable curtains, side airbags and knee airbags
  • Modules & sub-assemblies will be built using various hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical presses, hand & power tools, sewing machines
  • Being detailed, follow build request directions, along with processes and procedures.
  • Must be able to follow instructions of lead technician and or supervisor and work closely with engineering.
  • Work in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to work 1st shift. Full time 40 hours per week.
  • Occasional overtime may be required. 

 

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • A High School diploma with a minimum of 2-year relevant automotive tech experience or associates or specialized technical degree preferred. 
  • Able to quickly become familiar with the use of various computer applications such as Microsoft Office, SAP, Barcode reading and various ZF applications.
  • Some experience in reading component & assembly drawings, interpret and ability to read product prints preferred.
  • Must have good Interpersonal skills to effectively work cross-functionally and cross-culturally. 
  • Ability to support activities to meet the demands of internal and external customers on time. 
  • Ability to organize work efficiently and manage time to achieve all tasks assigned for Engineering and Prototype operations assigned work. 
  • Ability to work within project teams and meet program goals and share lessons learned.
