The purpose of this role is to lead and coordinate the product application development for IRS product families (CAB, KnAB, PAB and SAB) within one customer. The Application Engineer is the main contact for all technical matters to the customer, as well as for the Product Design, System development and the Program Management. Application engineer handles all development activities in terms of specifications, DVP & R, FMEA, test reports, Product approvals, etc. and takes care of the coordination of all technical requirements, problems, change requests from the customer and system environment coming towards the product development team. Application engineer must guarantee maximum customer focus and achieve best customer satisfaction.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate overall application engineering activities respective project development schedule
  • Overall technical project responsibility within one customer team
  • Main technical contact to customer, Product Design and System development
  • Ensure engineering readiness according project development plan on-time and meet CQA BOM cost targets
  • Ensure compliance to customer and legal requirements
  • Ensure all technical customer releases on-time
  • Participation on SET meetings at OEM / Tier-2 Suppliers
  • Support FMEA workshops at OEM / Tier-2 Suppliers
  • Create/initiate, review and approve all relevant documents and transmit according specific data & system requirements to OEM/Tier-2 Suppliers (e.g. DVP&R, test reports, COP plan, product release recommendation)
  • Review and update actual product performance status versus customer specification/expectation
  • Support all launch activities on-site OEM / Tier-2
  • Coordinate and manage all test sample orders OEM / Tier-2 / System Level
  • Coordinate and manage test part logistic with OEM / Tier-2 (Trim Parts e.g. Seat, IP)

Required Skills:

  • Comprehensive product, system and process skills
  • Extensive communication skills
  • Comprehensive experience with customer

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Comprehensive experience in Product Development of airbag components
  • Comprehensive experience in Manufacturing Engineering
  • Knowledge in the areas of crash simulation, biomechanics and vehicle-occupant kinematics
  • Knowledge of the current legal requirements for vehicle safety

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required in mechanical engineering (Post-Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred)
  • 4+ years experience in application engineering or similar position.
