Application Engineer - Seat Belts

We are seeking a new colleague to join our Occupant Restraints Team in Washington, MI!

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the product design, development and validation testing of seat belt retractor assemblies.  
  • Manage the release of all technical documentation including drawings, specifications, Design Failure Mode Effects and Analysis (DFMEA) and Design Validation Plan and Reporting (DVP&R).  
  • Prepare and specify engineering Bill of Materials and to order and specify computer aided engineering (CAE) studies and apply results.  
  • To analyze test samples, write test reports and present results to customers and management.  
  • To lead root cause problem solving activities and to provide technical expertise and trouble shooting to manufacturing locations in support of programs.  
  • To manage prototype samples in support of development testing and customer deliverables.  
  • To lead communications as primary technical customer contact.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering 
  • 3+ years direct engineering work related experience with application engineering or product design experience that may include automotive safety systems, plastic injection molding, automotive interior components or other class A automotive applications.  
  • Strong analytical capabilities including applicable experience in root cause problem solving), Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Design of Experiments (DOE).  
  • Strong product development knowledge including experience with technical drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) and design stack up analysis.  
  • Excellent oral and technical writing communications skills.  
  • Ability to interface well with technical staff and functional department personnel in a team environment.
  • Highly motivated, self starter willing to take on responsibility and lead in a fast paced environment.  
  • Good customer relations skills.  
  • Able to travel internationally as required.
