Transmission Mechanic

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform all duties of Tech I as described on Tech I job description.
  • Preassembles product.
  • Assembles transmission or valve body.
  • Inspects clean parts.
  • Performs related tasks as assigned.

 

Essential Skills and Experience: High school diploma or GED required. Knowledge of hand or pneumatic tools, forklift or pallet jack experience required. Must be able to read work instructions in English.

 

Preferred Skills and experience: Previous mechanical, assembly or automotive experience. Previous lean manufacturing experience helpful. Basic PC skills (on/off, read screen, toggle, use mouse, check inventory).

 

Reporting to Position: Remanufacturing Shop Supervisor, Pass Car/Light Truck. Has no direct reports.

Physical demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally required to stand, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools; or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl; verbally communicate and hear safety indicators; breathe through a respirator. The associate must occasionally lift and /or move up to 30 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.

 

Work Environment:  While performing the duties of the job, the associate is exposed to a manufacturing floor atmosphere with some office exposure.
