What you can look forward to as a Lead Category Manager:

  • In conjunction with the Sales Team, conduct market studies and create business plans to project future programs and products to meet customer and market requirements.
  • Develop and propose product line / service readiness projects with priorities and designated budgets.
  • Maintain, revise and expand the current product offerings and consistently introduce new, related products or product lines, with particular attention to service readiness for new product in the marketplace.
  • Lead product managers and sales teams to develop sales and marketing strategies and appraise the results of each sales program against objectives. .
  • Regularly inform the sales force of new products, applications and updates by creating marketing materials that effectively introduce those into the marketplace. Within budget limitations, ensure the development and availability of training programs, bulletins, flyers, promotions, catalogs, price sheets in order to increase the program’s overall performance and profitability.
  • Annual product line review development illustrating current position in market, strategy by product line, and clear roadmap for the future.
  • Ensure effective control and achievement of the Product Management budget and ensure corrective actions enacted when necessary.
  • Coordinate and ensure the tracking, recording and implementation of all product-related revisions in cooperation with the affected departments and vendors.
  • Responsible for all pricing activities for assigned products, related systems and tracking margin performance of spare parts and new / remanufactured units.
  • Effectively manage 5 direct reports

 

Your Profile as a Lead Category Manager:

 

  • BS in marketing or similar major; MBA preferred.
  • 8-10yrs experience managing multiple product lines and people
  • Computer proficiency (MS Office required and SAP) with expertise in MS Excel
  • Experience with braking and braking systems is a huge plus
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work within tight deadlines.
  • Technical/product expert with focus on Sales.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to cooperate with multiple departments and companies. 
  • Ability to operate at conceptual and practical levels. 
  • Bi-Lingual English/Spanish skills a plus
