Job Description

Position Summary: Production Supervisor I–Gen is responsible for overseeing and managing daily operations of the plant’s assembly process.

Position Responsibilities:

  • First line production supervisor of 20-40 production employees.
  • Create, manage, and report on employee schedules, absenteeism, and performance using internal systems and KPI’s
  • Mentors and develops line group leaders
  • Lead level 1 and participate in level 2 teams to establish and maintain all principles of the ZF Production System
  • Verifies quality of work and documents adherence to standardized work through daily audits and document updates
  • Collects and enters real-time and historical data to drive performance metrics
  • Leads daily start up meetings to present safety, quality, and performance topics to production employees
  • Assists operations team with establishing safety, quality, and productivity goals by participating in planning and driving initiatives on the shop floor
  • Ensures routine maintenance of equipment is performed in accordance with principles of the ZF Production System
  • Ensures that daily housekeeping duties are performed to advance the 5S principle as a foundation of the ZF Tuscaloosa manufacturing philosophy
  • Oversees proper performance of station start up and shut down procedures
  • Performs first level troubleshooting activities of assembly line process deviations & issues
  • Ensures the quality of all materials and products is maintained
  • Other duties as it relates to this position

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-2+ years of work-related experience
  • Working knowledge of plant and business unit procedures/processes
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced work environment
  • Proven ability to work independently and lead professional staff (e.g. schedule daily tasks, prioritize, execute)
  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to lead activities through the use of 8D/5Why principles
  • Proven time/project management skills while demonstrating the ability to produce results under constraints (e.g. time, budget, headcount, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (i.e. Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Proven ability in methods of communication, motivation, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills in the English language.

Preferred Skills and experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Technical degree preferred
  • 1-2+ years of work experience leading production teams.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and serve as a leader demonstrating vision, mission, core values, and key behaviors
  • Training in 5S, LEAN, and other company required programs may be required.
