About the Team: As a member of the Chassis Module Division that supplies to one of the most well know automotive companies in the world, you will join a team that is committed to excellence, the highest quality standards and puts our customer first.  You will work closely with automotive part manufacturers all around the world to ensure timely delivery of quality parts to our door.  You will work with different departments to ensure any newly sourced material or change is coordinated and executed on-time and with the highest quality.  Within ZF you will have the opportunity to work with peers and colleagues with 10-25 years of automotive expertise.  You will learn from the best, to be the best.  This fast paced, cross-functional, continuous improvement environment will develop you to your highest potential.

 

What you can look forward to as a Operations Manager:

  • Manage production processes and day-to-day business unit operations for current customer demands 6 days x 2 Shifts (i.e., production capacity/planning, production scheduling, production output).
  • Ensure operational performance standards, overall productivity, and employee satisfaction within the production and maintenance areas while improving the efficiency of manpower, materials and machines.
  • Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communication, coaching, recruiting, hiring, training and development and conducts yearly evaluations to ensure the proper development of personnel within the department.
  • Work closely with safety, maintenance, engineering, and quality departments to ensure customer requirements are met, and overall satisfaction with cost, quality, and delivery is achieved.
  • Assist in the development of plant operating and business plans; compare operational performance with established operating plans & standards, and interpret/report results of operations and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Meet regularly with Plant Manager to facilitate problem resolution of issues/problems.
  • Cascade the goal planning process to your direct reports and follow up in your weekly team meetings. Communicate with a professional manner to assure that all understand the production schedule, key issues, and challenges.
  • Identify problems or bottlenecks in production process and resolve issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, OSHA safety, and complete and one-time delivery at the lowest possible cost.
  • Work closely with senior and executive management to develop business plan and complete capital planning projects; ensure manufacturing equipment is productive, maintained, and proactively serviced.
  • Maintain and uphold a safe and productive work environment for the employees satisfying ZF standards and policy as well as OSHA laws and regulations.
  • Manage policy deployment in areas of Lean Manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and plant performance measures.
  • Oversee and support strategic planning initiatives for projects related to the implementation of new processes into production and ensure they meet objectives for safety, efficiency, productivity and quality (i.e. product changes, prototypes, and new product introduction).
  • Provides leadership for continuous improvement programs and to promote team efforts and objectives using the ZF Production System standards to maximize volume and productivity while lowering costs, including materials and overhead (i.e. ZFPS, lean manufacturing, 5S, etc.).
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, formal training, reviewing professional publications, establishing and expanding professional networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Ensure compliance with the ZF Quality (ZF QMS) and Environmental Management Systems, which includes IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and Customer Specific Requirements (CSR).
  • Manage customer inquiries, complaints and engineering changes.
  • Build teamwork in a diverse work culture that leads to collaboration.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Your Profile as a Operations Manager:

 

  • Four-year degree in a technical or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically in the automotive and/or electronics component industries, including experience encompassing a majority of the following fields – operational finance, manufacturing planning, engineering, quality, sales & purchasing
  • 4+ years of experience managing personnel and leading leaders 
  • Strong knowledge and ability in methods of communication, motivation, negotiation, and conflict management skills with a high level of initiative/drive
  • Knowledge of technical facets of products in addition to flow of products and related materials
  • Familiarity with financial reporting statements
  • IATF 16949 awareness training and knowledge of 5S and/or Six Sigma problem-solving methodology
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
