This position will be located in East Liberty, Ohio. This role is part of a ZF Group team that is a customer tenant located onsite at the Transportation Research Center (TRC), an independent automotive proving ground in East Liberty, OH. Infrequent travel to the ZF Group base office in Auburn Hills, MI may be required.

 

Position Summary: The System Qualification Tester works to integrate basic systems into test vehicles and carry out system verification testing. Analyze, summarize, and report results. Support vehicle testing of customers and other ZF functions. Develop test cases for vehicle testing based on system requirements and own tester expertise (e.g. error guessing).

 

Responsibilities:

  • Integrate and set-up test systems/components in test vehicles

  • Adapt software parameter settings for target vehicle platforms

  • Carry out vehicle tests according to test plan and specification

  • Assess system performance vs requirements as well as from a customer/driver like viewpoint

  • Analyze, evaluate, and document test results

  • Report problems/bugs to responsible function owners

  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with global SQ and development teams

  • Carry out vehicle tests together with customers (workshops, winter tests etc.)

  • Develop system test procedures for vehicle testing

  • Analyze system requirements and specify appropriate test cases for verification

  • Develop test cases based on own expertise to find potential unspecified system malfunctions

  • Secure safe vehicle testing procedures

  • Estimate effort and meet delivery schedules and quality levels

  • Support for process improvement, sharing learning etc.

  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, formal training, reviewing professional publications, establishing and expanding professional networks, and participating in professional societies.

  • Comply with all company and TS16949 policies and procedures.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Product Engineering, preferably in vehicle function development or field engineering

  • Degree in Engineering

  • Knowledge in vehicle technology and vehicle dynamics

  • Capable of test driving (CV driver’s license, qualified test driver)

  • Knowledge of commercial vehicle products and system functions

  • Good knowledge in instrumentation and data acquisition systems

  • English communication

  • Experience in the Automotive industry

  • German and/or Spanish language skills

  • Ability and willingness to obtain a Commercial Drivers License
