Sr. Maintenance Planner

Location:

Position Summary:  
•    Responsible for planning and recording maintenance and facility repair activities at a single site, including: preventive maintenance, breakdowns and projects. Responsible for planning MRO inventory and maintaining accurate levels of spare parts for production and factory equipment. 

Position Responsibilities:
•    Plan and record maintenance and factory repair activities with Maintenance Supervisor(s) (includes preventative maintenance, breakdown repair, and improvement projects for production and factory equipment). 
•    Create and maintain preventative maintenance plans for production and factory equipment. Plan, initiate and implement effective procedures for requisitioning material needed for repairs of production and factory equipment. 
•    Analyze usage to ensure that all equipment has spare parts on hand or parts are in acceptable state of repair, which can include setting safety stocks in SAP, Kanban, or visual management. Work with manufacturing engineering and purchasing to create scope of work specifications to obtain quotations from suppliers for machine repair and overhaul activities. 
•    Communicate with suppliers to request documentation, drawings, spare parts lists, and instructions as needed for maintaining and repairing production equipment. Identify machine spares for existing equipment, including working with the OEM to identify suitable replacement parts if the original item is no longer available. 
•    Create purchase requisitions for necessary materials, equipment, and services to maintain production equipment. Assure accuracy for charging purchased goods and services to appropriate cost centers and accounts. As new or replacement parts are purchased, responsible for assigning tool numbers in Axalant and SAP, and entering all required FDO information, including supporting documentation (drawings, manuals). 
•    Review assigned part numbers in Axalant for duplicity and eliminate redundant part numbers. Create and maintain machine data in Axalant for equipment, including machine documentation and an accurate bill of material for spare parts. Track parts and materials after purchase orders have been issued to ensure delivery on time for completion of assigned projects or repairs. Maintain monthly reports using Microsoft Office products and SAP. Operate within budget as planned by management. Understand and comply with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements.

 

Spare Part Management – Maintain Crib Stock 

Monitors inventory levels by establishing/adjusting min/max quantities based on part availability and lead times  

Consult with engineers and other technicians about what spares need to be kept on hand – critical spares ID 

Track critical spare parts when ordered and maintain a visual management system that will display what the status is of a part that is on order 

Checks availability of materials and initiates the procurement of obsolete items 

Manages parts that need to be repaired are tracked and items are being repaired correctly and in a timely manner 

Be proactive in finding issues with inventory that could have a negative impact on cost and correcting the issue promptly 

Ensure that adequate spare parts are available to minimize downtime 

Other Responsibilities 

Identify obsolete parts and verify alternate suppliers that have availability and cost savings 

Ensure that spare parts are available for planned jobs. 

Manages certain contractor repairs in the production areas 

Looks for ways to ensure continuous improvement to the maintenance process 

Works in a proactive manner to drive a more efficient preventative maintenance culture that will reduce the reactive breakdown environment 

 

Essential Skills and Experience:
•    Associate's/Technical Trade School (Bachelor's preferred)
•    Minimum of 5+ years of directly related experience
•    Senior-level knowledge of ISO 9001 systems
•    Senior-level knowledge of inventory systems and the ability to identify parts and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of machine
•    Proven interpersonal and communication skills.
•    Familiarity with continuous improvement/lean manufacturing tools in addition to problem solving methods (i.e. Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, Poka Yoke, Kanban, etc).
•    Ability to work independently and interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel.
•    Knowledge and ability in methods of communication, motivation, negotiation, and conflict management.
•    Strong organizational and task management skills.
•    English language competency.
