Principal Mechatronic Engineer (m/f/d)

We are looking for a new colleague in the Mechatronic department at our location in Shirley (The Hub). 

 

Your tasks:

  • You will work as team leader developing Electronic Controllers within the Electronics & ADAS division of ZF, at the forefront of current and next generation design for the automotive electronics market.
  • You will lead a team responsible for the integration of electronics with electric motors into mechanical assemblies for use in vehicle steering systems across passenger car and commercial vehicle applications.
  • Working alongside electronics, motor and vehicle system engineering teams, advanced manufacturing and supplier development teams based globally, you will deliver the complete product for mass production, whilst achieving product cost, efficiency, and environmental targets.
  • You will represent the engineering function reporting into internal and external customers, as well as key stakeholders.
  • As a leader of a world-class engineering team, you will be responsible for managing and developing the team’s capabilities, as well as enforcing the team’s professionalism and attention to detail to ensure the final product is delivered to the highest quality standards, by deploying appropriate tools, techniques, and practices.

 
Your profile:

  • Mechanical/Mechatronic/Design or similar Engineering degree
  • Experience in working with manufacture and automation, component design and supplier management, in high volume applications. Preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Skilled in mechanical design tools and techniques, 3D CAD modelling (ideally Catia V5), technical drawings and tolerancing. A strong background in predictive engineering, simulation & risk and failure analysis tools and methodologies and problem solving is key.
  • Enthusiasm to work alongside multiple application and functional teams to drive innovation and quality. You should be pro-active in your roll with the ability to manage and prioritize your time and your teams’ activities whilst being agile and adaptive to changing priorities.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and abroad, multi-language speaking beneficial but not essential. Ability to work remotely if required.
