About the Team
As a technical interface for Japanese commercial vehicle OEMs, this role collaborates with ZF global development teams to drive application development of driveline products such as transmissions and e-mobility components. The engineer will lead requirement analysis, vehicle integration support, and cross-functional project coordination.
What you can look forward to as Software Application Engineer:
- Act as technical window to Japanese commercial vehicle customers, aligning with ZF global R&D.
- Lead application development and evaluation of driveline products.
- Support integration of ZF products into customer vehicle systems (Engine Control, Main Computer, Brake systems, etc.).
- Perform requirement analysis, specification consolidation, deliverables management, and validation tests.
- Evaluate functional safety, diagnostics, and cybersecurity requirements.
- Manage project timelines, vehicle testing plans, and execution.
- Coordinate with internal/external stakeholders for technical discussions and issue resolution.
- Provide technical presentations and support for new business acquisition.
Your Profile as Software Application Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, with 5+ years of development experience in the automotive industry.
- Knowledge of automotive components, preferably Powertrain, and experience in development-related activities such as project support, application engineering, or vehicle calibration.
- Software testing and CAN communication knowledge; familiarity with CAN tools (CANape, CANalyzer). Experience with DOORS or Matlab/C-Code is a plus.
- Understanding of cybersecurity and functional safety standards, including UN‑R155/156, SUMS, and ISO 26262.
- Strong communication, coordination, and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and cultures.
- Business-level proficiency in both English and Japanese (reading, writing, communication), with a strong willingness to further improve language and technical capabilities.
- Proactive, self‑driven mindset with high adaptability to changing environments.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally and work effectively in global, diverse teams.
