Functional Safety Engineer

The Safety Manager as part of the project team shall plan all safety activities of the different development phases of the safety lifecycle for the relevant project. The Safety Manager has to document the planned safety activities in the safety plan and shall maintain and track progress to the safety plan for the duration of the project.

Primary Responsibilities

Plan

  • Identify projects requiring Safety Case to Safety Assessor
  • Analyze impact and plan all safety activities
  • Prepare project-specific Safety Plan by tailoring the template
  • Coordinate supporting activities (if necessary)
  • Supplier Management (for Safety topics)

Track

  • Maintain the Safety Plan and Safety Work Product Status during the safety lifecycle
  • Monitor process of the safety activities
  • Manage project related safety issues
  • Supplier Management (for Safety topics)

Perform

  • Support Safety Analyses (i.e. HARA, SPFM, LFM, Random HW Fault Metric, FTA, CM/CC analysis)
  • Support Functional- and Technical Safety Concept creation
  • Review & approve safety-related work products
  • Participate in system change review board to determine the impact of changes to safety
  • Prepare Safety Case
  • Manage Safety Outsource (if necessary)

Communicate

  • Main Customer Interface for safety topics, regular safety status reporting for customer (via SyE or directly)
  • Regular reporting to Safety Assessor

  

Qualifications

Educational Background

College graduates in one of the following majors

  1. Mechatronics Engineering
  2. Electrical and Computer Engineering
  3. Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  4. Mechanical Engineering

Experiences

Desirable

  • Automotive functional safety engineering
  • Automotive embedded system engineering
  • Embedded system electronics development
  • Embedded system software development
  • Embedded system requirements engineering

  Knowledge and Skills

  • More than 2 years of experience in functional safety for SW based systems in the automotive industry
  • Knowledge of Braking products
  • Understanding of project management techniques
  • Strong negotiation skills are preferred
  • Process knowledge in ISO 26262, ISO 16949, A-SPICE
  • Tool knowledge in DOORS, Integrity, Apis IQ, Fault Tree Plus (Reliability workbench), Medini
  • Enjoy working in a team
  • Good at own time management
  • Good at writing engineering documents (i.e. analysis, report, etc.)
  • Skill in C/C++ programming language is preferred but not must
  • Skill in software test results analysis is preferred but not must
  • Project management certification or experience is preferred but not must
