About the Team

The Legal Department of ZF China and Asia Pacific serves as a trusted business partner, supporting the company’s growth and strategic initiatives while ensuring legal compliance and risk management. The team works closely with business functions, purchasing, sales, finance, HR, and management to provide practical legal solutions in a dynamic multinational environment.

What you can look forward to as Legal Counsel (m/f/d):

Serve as a trusted legal advisor and key member of the in-house legal team, supporting ZF China and Asia Pacific business operations.
Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide range of contracts and legal documentation in both English and Chinese.
Provide legal advice on commercial transactions, purchasing and supplier agreements, leasing arrangements, corporate governance matters, and M&A-related activities.
Partner with business stakeholders to identify legal risks and develop practical, business-oriented solutions.
Support compliance initiatives by delivering legal and compliance training to employees and management.
Collaborate closely with regional and global legal, compliance, and business teams on strategic projects and cross-functional initiatives.
Monitor legal and regulatory developments and provide guidance on their impact to the business.
Perform additional legal assignments and special projects as directed by the General Counsel.

Your profile as Legal Counsel (m/f/d):

Bachelor’s degree or above in Law; Master of Laws (LL.M.) or equivalent qualification is an advantage.
Approximately 5-8 years of legal experience in a multinational corporation and/or a leading law firm, ideally combining both in-house and private practice experience.
Experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably within the automotive sector, is highly desirable.
Qualified to practice law in China (PRC Bar Examination passed) or equivalent legal qualification.
Strong contract drafting, review, negotiation, and legal risk assessment skills in both English and Chinese.
In-depth knowledge of Chinese laws and regulations, particularly those relevant to foreign-invested enterprises and corporate governance.
Familiarity with multinational corporate environments and the ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives.
Strong communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and influencing skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
Demonstrated integrity, business acumen, teamwork orientation, and proactive problem-solving capabilities.
Fluent in Mandarin and English, both written and spoken.
