Position Summary

Development, implementation, and optimization of new projects, including production layout, machinery, and tooling, with a focus on meeting budget and timing objectives.

Responsibilities:

• Development and implementation of new projects considering the production layout, process flow, machines and tooling required, installation start up, and optimization according to budget and timing.
• Planning and monitoring of key milestones for projects implementation.
• Design machinery and production lines for a smooth process flow.
• Evaluate the operation of new machines and tooling according to specification and product requirements.
• Define the sequence of operations for forming new products for the press area, as well as providing support to external customers and suppliers.
• Define and provide the 2D and 3D geometries of the preforms or sub-operations to the tooling design area as a starting point in the definition of the tooling.
• Define the technical characteristics that a press needs to carry out the optimal operation of the forming processes.
• Develop savings and cost reduction projects, through the simulation and optimization of the forming processes of the press area.
• Processes optimization to achieve the required SPCs.
• Ensure coverage of planned production volumes with installed capacity for the respective production unit.
• Ensure optimized equipment utilization.
• Capacity, floorspace & investment planning and forecast.
• Capex & Budget Management.
• Conduct machine and tooling purchasing process.
• Support standardization of production processes.
• Drive Continuous Improvement Process (CIP).
• Support DFMA Analysis.
• Conduct FMEA planning within process engineering.
• Support Footprint Analysis and Customer Quotation Projects.
• Training & Qualification Planning for new production lines.

Qualifications: 

• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies. 
• Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and coworkers from US and Germany.
• Knowledge and/or experience with the following manufacturing processes: sheet metal stamping, deburring, sheet metal cutting, automatic inserting, brazing.
• Line balancing & ergonomics.
• 2+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment
• Good understanding of relevant products & manufacturing processes
• Working knowledge of the GDPEP process
• Project Management skills
• Fluent in English language
