About the Team
Join our Centre of Competence (CoC) Rail, a highly specialized team dedicated to engineering excellence in the rail industry. As our Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting customers around the world by delivering complex reverse engineering and product development projects for non-ZF rail transmissions and final drives.
Our team consists of seven experts, including colleagues in Sales and Technical Engineering Support, working closely together to provide innovative solutions for our customers. In this position, you will be the team's dedicated Mechanical Engineering specialist, giving you a high level of ownership, visibility, and the opportunity to make a direct impact on project success.
What you can look forward to as Mechanical Engineer CoC (Centre of Competence):
- Reverse engineer components using measurement, inspection, analysis, and CAD modelling to create accurate engineering drawings and specifications
- Lead Non-ZF component development projects from concept through validation, supplier sourcing, and transition into production
- Manage project plans, budgets, timelines, risks, and stakeholder communication to ensure successful delivery
- Coordinate activities across engineering, procurement, quality, suppliers, and manufacturing functions
- Create and maintain technical manuals, repair procedures, work instructions, engineering drawings, and product documentation
- Manage procurement activities for Non-ZF components and support supplier performance improvement initiatives
- Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to improve product quality and reliability
- Drive continuous improvement activities focused on cost reduction, quality enhancement, and operational efficiency
Your profile as Mechanical Engineer CoC (Centre of Competence):
- Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Strong mechanical engineering knowledge covering design, manufacturing, assembly, repair, and remanufacturing processes
- Proficiency in CAD software for component design, modification, and drawing creation
- Experience establishing and managing supplier relationships, including supplier qualification, onboarding, and performance management
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical standards.
- Knowledge of material selection, manufacturing methods, and component failure analysis
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of quality systems and continuous improvement methodologies
