Sr Systems Engineer

We are seeking a new collegue to join our Electrified Powertrain division in Northville, MI!

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for system requirements management, configuration management, system validation and system integration of conventional & electrified automotive powertrain systems under development. 
  • Responsible for analyzing the overall requirements and correctly deriving them into system requirements for the definition of the components and system architecture and the breakdown of the system requirements placed on the sub-systems and delivering to the necessary functional core teams.
  • Responsbile for the development and timely execution of the system test and integration plans (DVP, eg. system integration tests, system tests and system acceptance tests).
  • Responsible for the identification of components that are required for the implementation of system requirements (specified in the system specification).
  • Responsible for the specification of the cooperation of the components for the implementation of certain technical functions (e.g. certain pressure characteristics for the implementation of spontaneity requirements, specified in the system specification).
  • Responsible for the specification of common interfaces and dependencies between the components.
  • Review customer requirements and negotiate agreements on technical system requirements.  Obtain customer sign-off on final requirements.  Manage these requirements in DOORS. 
  • Ensures customer and system requirements are linked together, as well as new or changed requirements with the overall requirements.
  • Responsible for release of system requirements.
  • Responsible to work with development team to define a system architecture consistent with the technical requirements.
  • Responsible to work with development team to create the system FMEA.  Determine significant/critical characteristics.
  • Support the Safety Manager to develop safety concepts to achieve required functional safety.Prepare risk analysis.
  • Manage system configuration definition and releases.  Ensure hardware and software levels are compatible and fully tested prior to release to customer.
  • Define and develop software and hardware requirements from various sources including customer specifications/requirements, input from Marketing/Sales and input from other team members.  Ensure requirements traceability.
  • Take action necessary to develop alternatives to problems and/or schedule delays, resolve problem and recommend ways to recover lost project time. 
  • Collaborate with hardware, software and systems engineers in order to implement systems engineering strategies based on V-Model principles.
  • Present  the system test plan and results to management, the core team, and the customer.
  • Ensure that all customer requirements and system requirements are met. 
  • Work with development teams and customers during beta testing, pre-production testing and final product implementation.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, with an emphasis on Systems Engineering, (Master’s preferred) and 7+ years of experience and leading technical projects.
  • Knowledge of system level development.
  • Knowledge of CAN, LIN and other automotive communication protocols
  • A mix of hardware and software knowledge
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety Standard:  ISO-26262.
  • Excellent project and planning abilities
  • Strong drive for teamwork with a customer-oriented approach to projects
  • Familiarity with Data Acquisition Systems, Data Analysis, and Data Processing
  • Ability to Interface with Cross-Functional Teams and all Levels of Personnel/Management
