ZF North America Inc. has job openings (multiple) for the position of Engineer II-Software based out of its location in Northville, MI.
Job Duties: Perform calibration engineering activities, including creation of desktop and test calibrations, calibration compares, the creation and execution of system-level development and validation test plans, development of functional test procedures and scripting, and performance of verification testing; Perform root cause analysis and error correction of system-level problems relating to mechatronic systems, hydraulic systems, sensors and wiring; Analyze and troubleshoot software issues using independent analysis; Track customer design change requests from analysis to delivery including coordination of individuals and expert teams throughout the organization as necessary; Analyze, estimate effort and provide feedback on customer change requests; Work with functional developers on customer design change requests to ensure customers’ vehicle system level requirements are met; Document and process software requirement changes; Specify software change requests for responsible software modules; Review specifications with functional developers, software developers and other controls engineers to ensure high quality standards; Support testing and software delivery to ensure complete test coverage and uninterrupted delivery of software; Evaluate software for production approval based on internal guidelines; Develop calibrations for diagnostics and software control functions and track calibration releases; Ensure that all engineering changes have no effect on modules or variants (design and test); Provide clarification and technical explanation of ZF product specifications, calibration solutions, and component functions. A hybrid (in-office and telecommute) work schedule is available. Position requires up to 15% travel to domestic or international locations to troubleshoot customer issues.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering or related engineering field, plus 2 years of experience in embedded software or powertrain engineering, and demonstrated experience with: Automotive powertrain systems integration or design; Requirement analysis and management, including requirements allocation, decomposing of higher-level requirements; and traceability; Embedded software design or testing; Scripting or programming languages, including C/C++, Python, MATLAB scripting, Basic, or JavaScript; Hardware-in-the -Loop environment; Data acquisition and analysis tools, including ETAS (INCA/ MDA), Vector, CANalyzer, CANoe, or vSignalyzer; Requirements management tools, including IBM Rational Clearquest, IBM Rational DOORS, Jira, or CodeBeamer; Automotive standards including, CARB 1968.2, ISO14229 (UDS), and ISO 26262 (Functional Safety).
