Safety Management Engineer

We are looking for a new colleague to joing our R&D team in Northville, MI!

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the support and coordination of the development of moderate to complex mechatronic functions under functional safety including identifying, planning, establishing, coordinating and monitoring the tasks and resources of all activities identified in the safety process.
  • Preparation and development of hazard and risk analyses as well as safety plans, requirements and verifications.
  • Performing and moderating analyses and reviews as part of the functional safety process in function and software development, e.g. Safety Analysis, HARA, SFMEA, FTA, DFA. 
  • Representing the topic of functional safety internally at ZF and vis-à-vis customers.
  • Consult and support the project teams in the implementation of the requirements from the safety process as well as qualification of employees regarding the methods of functional safety
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and high levels of personnel/management on a local and global level
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with all IATF 16949 policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering (mechatronic, electronical, or technical computer science)
  • 3-4 years of experience (internship/co-op included)
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.
  • Knowledge of embedded hardware and software design and architecture, electronic products, preferably on automotive related, ISO 26262 and Automotive SPICE.
  • Experience in using development tools, e.g. version control tools and requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS, Integrity).
  • Experience with ISO 26262 or IEC 61508 standard.
  • Experiences in (safety) analyses like Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA), FMEA, FTA and similar.
  • Ability to think logically and understand the inner working of mechatronic products at system, hardware or software level.
  • Strong communication skills on technical subjects.
  • Strong knowledge of Chassis products with regard to development processes
  • Knowledge and experience in production processes, quality standards within Automotive industry
