Engineering Lead / Supervisor - Controls

Position Summary: The Controls Engineering Team Lead is a working technical leader who is responsible for leading a team of transmission controls engineers responsible for all functional customer changes with regards to ZF electrified powertrain technology. They are responsible for the coordination and execution of such functional changes across the different platforms handled within this team. 

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize and assign tasks within the team according to resource availability and capability to meet overall team/project timing and deliverables.  Review work output and execute tasks as necessary to support high quality and on-time deliverables.
  • Evaluate team and individual performance and provide meaningful feedback. Identify and resolve gaps in training and/or processes. Coach team members and lead by example.
  • Support the team and its interests in internal and external meetings and escalations.  Provide expert technical guidance and support as necessary.
  • Team tasks include, but not limited to, analysis, estimation, specification, testing, and calibration of electrified powertrain software changes and issues.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, formal training, reviewing professional publications, establishing and expanding professional networks, and participating in professional societies.

 

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Computer/Software Engineering, or related Engineering field
  • 10+ years of engineering experience in a product development, testing, and/or manufacturing environment (includes co-op and/or internship experience)
  • 2+ years of engineering experience with a focus on powertrain applications
  • In-depth understanding powertrain electronic control systems development and/or software calibration/testing processes
  • In-depth understanding of data acquisition, analysis and statistical methods
  • Experience in DFMEA’s and DVP’s
  • Broad knowledge of technical landscapes with special regards to applications engineering and product testing/design/development
  • Proficient with INCA/CANape, DOORS, ClearQuest and other development software
  • Ability to interface with key customers, cross-functional teams, and all levels of personnel/management
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead engineering professionals with decisiveness and diplomacy
  • Good driving record

 

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Computer/Software Engineering, or related Engineering field
  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering role within a electrified powertrain development
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership role
  • Experience with data acquisition tools (e.g. ETAS INCA, CANalyzer, etc.)
  • Extensive knowledge of the technical components and critical functions of electrified powertrains
