Electronics Engineering Supervisor

Position Summary:

The Electronic Interfaces Engineering Lead/Supervisor is responsible for leading the Electronic Interfaces Design & Validation Engineering team in the planning and execution of engineering projects to meet Electronics departmental goals of designing, developing and completing the successful system implementation of evaluating new and existing products to ensure the on-time development of reliable products that are able to be manufactured, cost effective, meet customer specifications and maintain company standards.

 

Position Responsibilities: 

•    Lead and direct regional engineering team by providing technical direction, assigning proper allocation of resources to projects, and ensuring that application design, development and modifications of new or existing products meet customer and company standards; responsible for maintaining the design integrity on one or more existing product designs (System engineering and Electrical HW).
•    Evaluate Electronic Interfaces engineering operations, review work of personnel, maintain/follow budget and records, enforce company rules, evaluate team performance, initiate and/or recommend Changes-In-Status and eliminate ordinary operating difficulties.
•    Support the strategic direction of the regional EI product line for design in engineering that is measured by customer satisfaction within the limits of the established business plan.
•    Support and provide input for the SP/OP budget planning process.
•    Participate in the MRO (material requests) and capital expenses budget process.
•    Actively support the sales activities for Product Line EI from the engineering side.
•    Manage and oversee design related tasks for new business acquisition from RFQ through customer deliverables.
•    Prepare and present information packages to demonstrate the company technical capability to customers, suppliers and internal functions; identify and resolve customer design/product ambiguity.
•    Release engineering cost analysis for customer inquiry and company product development for department related efforts. 
•    Responsible for product design and ultimate customer accepted product.
•    Supervise all customer application analysis; troubleshoot customer issues and ensure that all activities are completed in order to achieve a final root cause resolution with the customer.
•    Primary liaison between other departments, divisions, and product lines for engineering topics
•    Initiate and monitor the assembly of prototypes, resolve design problems and document changes for customer presentation.
•    Support purchasing and cost engineering activities from the engineering side.
•    Compare ZF Electronic Interfaces products to competitor products value and appraise the comparative value from the customers' perspective of feature and design.
•    Lead continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
•    Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, formal training, reviewing professional publications, establishing and expanding professional networks, and participating in professional societies. 
•    Ensure compliance with the ZF Quality Management System requirements (ZF QMS) which includes IATF 16949, Automotive Spice and Customer Specific Requirements (CSR).
•    Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Essential Skills and Experience:

•    Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or related field
•    8-10+ years advance experience preferably in project engineering and design/application. 
•    Deep knowledge in design engineering within PRND shifter technologies
•    Experience with configuration and revision management in an automotive environment according Automotive Spice 
•    Knowledge of SAP
•    Proficient in IBM Rational DOORS environment
•    Advanced problem solving and analytical skills
•    Ability to influence and engage at multiple levels within internal and external organizations
•    English language competency – both oral and written
•    Excellent project and planning abilities
•    Able to manage multiple responsibilities
•    Proven interpersonal, communications and listening skills
•    Willingness to travel up to 50% (mostly local) 
•    Strong drive for teamwork with a customer-oriented approach to projects
•    Advanced proficiency in Microsoft® Word and Excel
  

Preferred Skills and experience:

•    Master’s degree (preferred) 
•    4+ years of project management and/or supervisory experience in an engineering environment
•    Experience with Microsoft® Project
•    Proven ability to work independently and lead engineering staff, professionals, and management with decisiveness and diplomacy
•    Attested knowledge and ability in methods of communication, motivation, negotiation, and conflict management skills with a high level of initiative/drive
•    Knowledge of project key figures and financials 
•    CAN bus Design experience (controller area network) is a vehicle bus standard designed to allow microcontrollers and devices to communicate with each other within a vehicle 
•    Knowledge of Clear Case/Clear Quest, MKS, GIT or PTC Integrity
•    Proof of IATF 16949 and Automotive Spice awareness training
•    Knowledge of ISO 26262
•    German and/or Spanish language skills
