Design Engineering Intern

Position Summary:

The Engineering Intern - Chassis Components Design is responsible for developing new/improved designs for automotive suspension components, modifies existing components on production vehicles while learning ZF design guidelines under supervision of an engineer.

 

 

Position Responsibilities:

Design suspension products under supervision of an engineer within the ZF guidelines to reach required functional and safety requirements.

Create & modify design(s) to obtain specified functional and operational performance under engineering supervision.

Build relationships with industry subject matter experts.

Support team projects as required.

Create & modify products to obtain specified functional and operational performance under engineering supervision.

Create Excel Spreadsheets to help organize information or create standardized calculation tools.

Provide basic engineering calculation and analysis support.

Ensure departmental compliance with all IATF16949 policies and procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

Essential Skills and Experience:

Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering or related field (Mechanical Engineering preferred) at an accredited university with a minimum GPA 3.0/4.0 scale

Advanced reading, mathematical, written and verbal communication skills.

Computer literacy in basic PC based office software including spreadsheets.

Able to learn and use product specific calculation software.

Strong problem solving and analytical skills

Ability to deliver creative and innovative thoughts.

Superior interpersonal, communications and listening skills

 

 

Preferred Skills and experience:

Spanish and or German language skills

Experience in automotive industry.
