Configuration Management Engineer

We are seeking a new colleague to join our Quality Development department in Northville, MI!

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development, maintenance, and fulfillment of a configuration management plan for conventional & electrified automotive powertrain systems under development (specifically: electrical inverter and powertrain control units). This includes performing project reviews, creation and management of baselines, and providing metrics.
  • Create a configuration management plan which identifies and plans all required activities, tasks, and resources for the various development phases of the project. Ensure activities are carried out according to plan and notify project management of any deviations.
  • Implement configuration management in the assigned development projects across all involved development teams. Ensure all project team members are aware, trained and comply with the configuration management requirements and rules.
  • Act as an expert configuration management consultant for project teams.  Support configuration discussions with internal and external teams.
  • Conduct comprehensive analyses and reviews of the development project and its status.
  • Define, create, and manage project baselines, incl. alignment with and control of all involved project team members.
  • Create configuration management project metrics and communicate project status to management.
  • Support improvement of the configuration management process as part of the overall automotive development processes, and support improvement of methods and tool for configuration management, in alignment with the global development and process teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering (mechanical, electrical, or a related field) and 3+ years of experience in automotive product development (internship/co-op included)
  • Experience in using development tools, e.g. version control tools and configuration management tools (e.g. DOORS, Integrity).
  • Experience in configuration management and/or quality assurance in automotive product development
  • Certified Provisional Automotive SPICE Assessor
  • Experience with ISO 26262 or IEC 61508 standard.
  • Knowledge of embedded hardware and software design/architecture, and electronic products.
  • Strong analytical skills.
