CAE Analyst

Position Summary: The CAE (Computer Aided Engineer)/FEA (Finite Element Analysis) Engineer performs Finite Element Analysis and provides design direction for chassis subsystems and components.


Position Responsibilities: 

  • Perform linear and nonlinear FEA structural analysis to predict product durability, reliability and NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) as required to support internal and external customers.
  • Perform and/or coordinate CAE analysis for customers and ZF product engineering.
  • Perform optimization studies to minimize mass and piece cost and improve part’s functionalities.
  • Summarize CAE analysis results to present to customer and internal design reviews.
  • Provide design direction/support based on the analyses performed.
  • Collaborate with product engineering team to identify potential issues by using CAE tools, to conduct root cause analysis, and to provide technical proposals and solutions to resolve engineering problems.
  • Provide contact and technical representation to customers and production plants.
  • Responsible for documentation and review of CAE analysis specification, analysis guidelines & templates.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
  • Maintain “state of the art awareness” on CAE tools/methodology.
  • Comply with all company and IATF16949 policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 3-4 years of experience as a FEA engineer, CAE engineer, or similar role (including internship/co-op experience)
  • Knowledge in DOE (design of experiments) and other engineering analysis tools
  • Experience with any two of the following codes: MSC.NASTRAN, ADAMS, and Fatigue, ABAQUS, and Hyperworks

  

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering
  • Experience in non-linear analysis with emphasis on viscoelastic materials
  • Knowledge of CAD software, such as CATIA, UG, or IDEAS
  • Experience with Chassis subsystems and components
  • Experience in the Automotive industry
  • German and/or Spanish language skills
