Overview: ZF Test Systems develops and produces test benches for on- and off-road mobility. The Test Systems Business Unit is a special machine building branch within the ZF group, specialized in Test equipment design / installation / commissioning. With our North American Test System team, we are serving regional customers in providing turnkey Testing Solutions for their drivetrain and battery testing needs.  For more than 35 years we have been specialists for validation and development test facilities. Position Summary: Lead the overall Service business relationship with existing ZF Test system accounts.  Establish and implement short-term goals and the long-range strategies to accomplish results meeting company objectives. Effectively grow the business, ensuring sustainable growth and profitability through collaboration with divisional business units and resources.


What you can look forward to as a Business Development Manager: 

  • Lead customer development, growing After Sales & Service.
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships at all levels through close contact with key functional disciplines and decision makers for Service of ZF Test Equipment. 
  • Establish strategic direction and lead overall customer planning and acquisition activities.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies in accordance with Divisional and Business Unit/product line objectives.
  • Identify new customer requirements, creating internal visibility and actions to capitalize on After Sales opportunities.
  • Organize development of customer quotations/proposals in close cooperation with TS – headquarters and NA-Engineering/ technical team.  Compile, present and negotiate prices with the customer accounts.
  • Responsible for regional operative and strategic planning for BU serving after sales customers.

*Ability/willingness to travel: on average 30-50% (mainly US, Canada, and Mexico)


Your profile as a Business Development Manager:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 3+ years of experience in sales roles in Automotive/ Automation industries in the field of capital equipment.  Experience dealing directly with major global OEM and Tier1s for the R&D and End of Line investment segments.
  • Understanding of and ability to effectively combine technical knowledge with commercial responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability building customer relationships and in sales development, including achievement of mid/ long term service contracts.
  • Ability to deliver compelling value proposition proposals, highlighting commercial and product feature/ technical advantages.
  • Analytical skills with ability to translate to strategic actions.  Structured and process oriented working methods.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a global organization, managing multiple projects and competing priorities.  Ability to mobilize company resources toward support of acquisition initiatives.
  • Ability to develop creative solutions to difficult problems, or to resolve differences with customers.


Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Market knowledge; advanced analytical skills (technical as well as commercial)
  • Account management experience within capital equipment segment, representing an expert in the Test System business. 
  • Established personal contacts at OEM/ Tier1 customers, with a sizeable network of contacts across the industry segment.
