Industrial Technology is the division where ZF bundles its activities for “Off-Road” applications. It comprises the development and production of transmissions and axles for agricultural and construction machinery as well as driveline technology for material handling systems, rail and special vehicles.
The division is also responsible for the worldwide business of marine propulsion systems as well as the development and production of gearboxes for wind turbines and industrial applications. Test systems for all kinds of applications in driveline and chassis technology are also included in the division’s portfolio.

 

Our plant in North Mankato, MN is looking to hire Assemblers to join the ZF family.  This individual will be responsible for assembling and testing company products including valves and hydraulic cylinders.  

Responsibilities:

  • Fastens parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, or other fasteners.
  • Uses engineering prints/drawings, routing sheets, settings specifications, required hand tools and fixtures, and test benches to assist in assembly operation.
  • Demonstrates ability to detect discrepancies about parts or documentation.
  • Assembles parts per print; then packages and moves the products to the backflushing area.
  • Sets-up and tests assembled products and sub-assemblies per specification.
  • Cleans workstation and area for next job.
  • Inspects products prior to packaging and places non-conforming products aside to be returned to production departments
  • Observes packaging operations and inspects containers to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Tallies number of products packaged or records information such as type of products packaged.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems in their assigned work center, or assists workers in solving work problems working in the same work center.
  • Maintains time and production records accurately.
  • Follows and monitors work instructions and ISO procedures.
  • Packs parts properly to prevent damage during transportation to next operation.  
  • Uses a variety of hand tools in a safe manner.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area each day.
  • Recognizes and complies with all safety rules.  Hearing and Eye protection will be worn when required.
  • Looks for and recommends product and process improvements in support of corporate goals, objectives and activities.
  • Employees must complete general safety training such as Right to Know (includes: Hazardous Communication, Emergency Response Plan, AWAIR, and Forklift & Pedestrian Safety) annually. The employee must follow the rules stated in our safety policies and programs including but not limited to the Shop Safety rules. The employee is to report any unsafe conditions, unsafe acts, near misses, illnesses, and injuries to their supervisor immediately.
  • Works overtime as requested/required by supervisor.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or nine to eighteen months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • Ability to read, write and understand work instructions.  Ability to read English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, Engineering prints and drawings as well as procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with shipping clerks, other assembly and shop personnel.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Ability to read blue-prints, routing sheets and test specifications.  
  • Capable of consistently maintaining production rates and a high level of quality.  
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and in a team environment and be self-motivated.  
  • Basic understanding of ISO 9001 & 14001.
