Quality Engineer

Position Summary:  The quality engineer ensures product quality for internal and external customers and promotes & ensures quality culture on the shop floor.

 

What you can look forward to as a Quality Engineer:

  • Maintain and improve product quality and ensure proper handling of all nonconforming product.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Perform activities in coordination with the Supplier Quality Engineer related to supplier development, supplier concern resolution, and supplier performance measurement.
  • Perform product launch quality activities (when applicable) for customer in accordance with APQP/PPAP guidelines.  
  • Lead corrective action teams to include 8D process when appropriate.  Correct and report non-conformances or variants from documented instructions and procedures.
  • Coordinate and evaluate Gage R& R activities that result in < 10% R&R results.
  • Create quality documents such as FMEAs, Control Plans, flow Diagrams and instructions.
  • Control containment, disposition, and release of materials in Quality Hold area.

 

Your profile as a Quality Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of supplier quality or quality engineering experience. 
  • Working knowledge of requirements from Core Tools - APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), MSA (Measurement System Analysis), SPC (Statistical Process Control), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), FMEAs, Control Plans, Process Flows, Gage R&R, etc. 
  • Understanding of gage design and function.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational and task management skills.
  • Good time management and prioritizing skills
  • Capable of making sound decisions in a timely manner.

 

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field. 
  • Internal Auditor Certification.
  • Six Sigma training.
  • Measurement and test experience.
  • General working knowledge of CMM equipment.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Certified Quality Engineer.
  • Automotive industry experience.
  • German language skills.
  • Auditing experience with IATF 16949.
  • Materials exposure in aluminum castings and/or forgings; steel castings and/or forgings; rubber-metal bonding.
