Sr. Hardware Engineer

Position Summary: Sr. Electronics Hardware Engineer is responsible for engineering and developing the electronic circuitry controlling various electronic Powertrain products like Power Inverters and Transmission Control Units. This position will be supporting the growth of the new ZF R&D Center in Monterrey.

 

Position Responsibilities:

 

  • Work with the Systems Engineer to define and develop functional and hardware requirements from various sources including customer specifications/requirements, input from Marketing/Sales and input from other team members.  Develop required functional specifications for the hardware.  Ensure requirements traceability.
  • Create and update the electrical Hardware related topics within the product DFMEA 
  • Write DVP&R to verify that the design meets all Hardware requirements.
  • Execute functional tests in the lab and on test vehicles to ensure resulting hardware meets all requirements.
  • Work with system engineers and software engineers to optimize overall system design and achieve desired hardware/software partitioning.
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineers and Quality Engineers in the plant to establish control plans based on the significant/critical characteristics and launch the design into production.
  • Take necessary action to develop alternatives to problems and/or schedule delays, resolve problem and recommend ways to recover lost project time. 
  • Report progress on a regular basis to Technical Project Lead, Supervisor, and Program Manager(s).

 

Essential Skills and Experience:

 

      • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics or Mechatronics Engineering
      • Good understanding of Electric Power Conversion (bidirectional DC-AC and/or DC-DC)
      • Circuits  Schematic design experience 
      • Capability to use lab tools, equipment, and techniques to verify circuit operation
      • Experience with circuit simulation tools
      • Knowledge of CAN, LIN and other automotive communication protocols
      • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
      • Advanced English language competency – both oral and written

 

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge and Experience with Power Converters Topologies Control and Modulation
  • Knowledge and Experience with Power Semiconductors like Si-IGBT and SiC-MOSFETs
  • Experience in the Automotive and/or Electronics industries
  • Experience with SAP and/or Axalant
  • Experience with Microsoft® Project
  • Experience with requirements management using DOORS
