E-Mobility Design Engineer-Electronic Mechatronics (inverter)

We are looking to hire  "E- Mobility  Design Engineer - Electronic Mechatronic (Inverter)" our brand new state of the art R&D facility in Monterrey. ZF will develop in this location heir most Advanced Driver Assist Systems for Autonomous vehicle.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Supporting the design, engineering, and development of Inverter components and assemblies, and ensures that new or modified products can be manufactured, cost-effective, meet customer specifications and maintain company standardsParticipate in all stages of product design, development, and documentation (concept through manufacturing) for new and current Inverter products and components.
  • Create and maintain CAD and engineering data / documents on an advanced level.
  • Provide active involvement with Inverter design and development activities between the Customer, Supplier and ZF internal departments.
  • Maintain the design integrity of one or more existing product designs.
  • Participate in the coordination, execution, scheduling, and control of projects to achieve cost, manufacturability, and design requirements by creating / utilizing engineering tools and documentation (BOM, DVPR, FMEA, Control Plans etc.)
  • Take actions necessary to develop alternatives to problems and/or schedule delays; resolve problems with Customers and internal departments, as well as recommend ways to recover project time lost.
  • Participate in formulating the engineering strategy on estimating the cost of product designs and applications. 
  • Document ideas for purposes of patent protection and provide product information for patent documentation purposes.
  • Use and support analytical studies to assure product function and reliability:
    • Thermal management
    • Vibration capability
    • Stress, forces
    • Tolerance stack
    • Thermal shock
  • Support and complete release activities and processes of engineering documents.
  •   Direct and coordinate the transfer of data between Suppliers, Customers, and inter-company.
  •   Initiate and monitor the assembly of prototypes and resolve design problems and document changes.
  •   Ensure that an approved detailed drawing package is provided of final product design.
  • Investigate new technologies in the industry and consult with Suppliers to obtain latest technology information.
  • Perform benchmark analyses on ZF Inverter products compared to competitor products and assess value-add of components and design features.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, formal training, reviewing professional publications, establishing and expand professional networks.
  • Comply with all IATF 16949 policies and procedures.
  • Provide support to internal and external design resources when appropriate (e.g. high power hardware development, PCB layout, software development.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requeriments:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering
  • Engineering experience automotive product design/development with experience in power electronics components such as inverters, power dc-dc converters or on-board chargers.
  • Experience with molded plastics, die castings and sheet metal processes.
  • Advanced use of GD&T
  • Good understanding of design for manufacturing, quality control and FMEA.
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Basic knowledge of Functional Safety Standard:  ISO-26262.
  • Proficient with 2D/3D CAD Software
  • Strong drive for teamwork with a customer-oriented approach to projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft® Word and Excel
  • Understanding of FEA methods (constraints, loading and results)
  • Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management
  • English language competency – both oral and written
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally (up to 5%)
