We are looking to hire a E-Mobility Design Engineer (e-motor) to join our team at Monterrey.

 

The E-Mobility Design Engineer (e-motor) is responsible for detail designing of 3D CAD models and drawings, tolerance calculations and technical documentation for non-active parts and assemblies of an electric machine and component design in the product range of electric drives. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Complete detail design of assemblies/components of non-active parts of electric machine, e.g. shaft, stator carrier, rotor, housing, covers, bearings, assemblies etc. 
  • Prepare 3D models and drawings for individual parts and assemblies, considering dimensioning and tolerances according to production 
  • Consideration of production and assembly technical matters as well as of service and maintenance options 
  • Prepare tolerance calculations for components and assemblies 
  • Prepare technical documentation (e.g. product presentation, clearance & creepage distance analysis) 
  • Provide close technical coordination with external suppliers and internal departments (e.g. suppliers of raw material and processing, electrical motor design engineers, quality and purchasing etc.). 
  • Working and implementation of ZF standards regarding to 3D modelling with PTC Creo 4.  
  • Usage of Intralink interface and SAP 
  • Participate in the coordination, execution, scheduling, and control of projects to achieve cost, manufacturability, and design requirements by creating / utilizing engineering tools and documentation (BOM, DVPR, FMEA, Control Plans etc.) 
  • Develop alternatives to problems and/or schedule delays; resolve problems with Customers and internal departments, as well as recommend ways to recover project time lost.  
  • Document ideas for purposes of patent protection and provide product information for patent documentation purposes. 
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts. 
  • Comply with all IATF 16949 policies and procedures. 

 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering 
  • Proven experience in product design / development 
  • Proficient with 2D/3D CAD Software 
  • Experience with 3D design and calculation of Rotating Components such as shafts, bearings, Electric Machines Rotors and/or others.  
  • Advanced use of GD&T and Tolerance Stack Up 
  • Basic understanding of Electrical Machines operating principles and components. 
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities 
  • Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management 
  • English language competency – both oral and written 
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally (up to 10%) 

 

Preferred Skills and experience: 

  • Knowledge of different materials for electric machines, e.g. electric steel, copper, plastics, magnet materials etc. 
  • Knowledge of the different material processing and respective tooling technologies for prototypes and serial production are desirable 
  • Knowledge of connecting technologies for different materials (welding, interlocking, gluing, fixing technologies etc.) 
  • Knowledge of plastic materials for interface assemblies (overmoulding technologies, plastic tooling technologies, and others) 
  • Good knowledge of Creo, Intralink and SAP PDM system are desirable 
  • Experience with PLM systems (e.g. SAP, Axalant, Windchill) 
  • Experience in the Automotive industry 
  • Use of FEA software
