Works as a mechanical skilled trades person on the production equipment

 

Job Duties/ Responsibilities:

 

Position Responsibilities:  

  • Must be willing to complete Machining Fundamental courses at a local accredited trades school. Recommended courses. Intro to Auto Cad, Machine Tools, Geometric Dimensions and Tolerancing, & Beginning CNC Programing.
  • Operate Mobile CMMS Device I-Pad for Reactive Calls as well as Preventive Maintenance assignments.
  • Will be expected to learn full machine gauges on CNC machines. Training will be mostly OJT (on the job training) with a qualified Toolmaker/Machine Builder.
  • Must understand mechanics of machining and grinding centers, heat-treat furnaces, and assembly lines.
  • Must understand automation, conveyors, and mechanical systems.
  • Must be able to navigate through CNC control systems.
  • Basic understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, force presses, gauging stations, and automated welding assembly.
  • Must utilize calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators to check for run out and ensure product quality, complete end of arm tooling inspections, and assist in gauging.
  • Assist with fabrication work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools or assemblies.
  • Perform tests with completed tools to ensure that parts meet specifications and adjust as necessary.
  • Assist in file, grind, shim, and adjustment tasks to properly fit parts together per print.
  • Lift, position and secure machine parts on surface plates or worktables, using hoists, vises, v-blocks, or angle plates.
  • Cut shape and trim blanks or blocks to specified lengths or shapes, using power saws, power shears, rulers, and hand tools.
  • Set up and operate drill presses to drill and tap holes in parts for assembly.
  • Perform incidental tasks as required to complete the larger task.
  • Adhere to safety requirements and processes.
  • Accept direction from various members of the management team.
  • Assist in Troubleshooting on electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Work with outside vendors.
  • Work in an efficient manner to minimize equipment down time.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, formal training.
  • Comply with all IATF policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of (3) years toolmaker or CNC experience.
  • Must have high school diploma or GED
  • Strong CNC background
  • Must have own tools.

 

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience in the Automotive industry.
  • Skilled trades technical education.
  • CNC machine builder.
  • Manufacturing experience.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.

 

Work Environment: While performing the duties of the job, the associate is exposed to an engineering lab atmosphere with some office exposure. The engineering lab includes a machine shop, where the associate is exposed to potentially hazardous equipment and moderate to high noise levels, both requiring the use of protective equipment to ensure the safety of the associate.
