Job Summary:
Works as a mechanical skilled trades person on the production equipment
Job Duties/ Responsibilities:
Operate Mobile CMMS Device for Reactive Calls as well as Preventive Maintenance assignments.
Must understand mechanics of machining and grinding centers, and assembly lines.
Must understand conveyors, automation, robotics, and mechanical systems.
Must understand Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Force presses, gauging stations, automated welding assembly,
Must be proficient with the following equipment, lathes, bridgeport, grinders, sanders, and welding.
Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts or other specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools or assemblies.
Proficient in Verifying dimensions, alignments and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers and dial indicators to ensure product quality.
Must be able to move robots to safe zone for toolmaker tasks.
Visualize and compute dimensions, sizes, shapes and tolerances of assemblies, based upon specifications.
Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders to cut, bore, grind or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
Can Proficiently File, grind, shim and adjust different parts to properly fit them together.
Fit and assemble parts to make, repair or modify jigs, gauges and tools using machine tools and hand tools.
Perform tests with completed tools to ensure that parts meet specifications; make adjustments as necessary.
Lift, position, and secure machine parts on surface plates or worktables, using hoists, vises, v-blocks or angle plates.
Measure, mark and scribe metal or plastic stock to lay out machining, using instruments such as protractors, micrometers, scribes and rulers.
Cut, shape and trim blanks or blocks to specified lengths or shapes, using power saws, power shears, rulers and hand tools.
Design jigs, fixtures and templates for use as work aids in the fabrication of parts or products Select materials to be used from a range of metals and alloys, based on properties such as hardness and heat tolerances.
Must be Proficient in Gauging all CNC Machines (Gear) and all Mod Gauging stations. (Assembly)
Must be able to navigate machine controls to perform gauging process
Must be able to reverse engineer parts/details when required
Set up and operate Bridgeport/Drill presses to drill and tap holes for assembly.
Perform incidental tasks as required to complete the larger task.
Able to Weld with Tig, Mig or stick welding on part touching details.
Proficient in Fabricating details from prints.
Adhere to safety requirements and processes.
Work in team-based environment and independently.
Accept direction from various management team members.
Must have experience troubleshooting on electrical and mechanical systems.
Must be able to work with outside vendors.
Must work in an efficient manner to minimize equipment downtime.
Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, formal training.
Comply with all IATF policies and procedures.
Able to retain information to improve efficiency and skillsets
Works well with others in a team environment and demonstrates leadership attributes.
Provide input into plant RCA process (Root Cause Analysis)
Provide input for periodic PM reviews- Machine Reliability
Must train and mentor newer toolmakers
Performs all work in a safe manner
Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Minimum of eight (8) years verified toolmaker experience. Candidates with at least six (6) years of verified experience who can demonstrate proficiency in all areas listed above may be considered for early promotion.
Must have up-to-date technological training and experience of newer state-of-the-art equipment.
Must have own tools.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Journeyman preferred
Manufacturing Experience
Experience in the Automotive industry.
German and/or Spanish language skills.
