Maintenance Tech Lead-Reliability

Job Summary:

The Reliability Technician will work on proactive and reliability-centered maintenance strategy by focusing on PM(Preventative Maintenance), PdM(Predictive Maintenance), and CbM(Conditioned Based Monitoring) by working with a CMMS and many different maintenance technologies and instruments. The Reliability Technician must be a self-starter responsible for developing troubleshooting skills and the skillset of others by demonstrating and coaching maintenance and troubleshooting techniques, assisting with SWI (Standard Work Instructions) development, and performing OJT (On-the-Job Training) for major machine repairs and rebuilds including grinders, lappers, lathes, cutters, and testers. The Reliability Technician will also be a primary resource for guidance as needed. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Launch and lead equipment rebuilds as the Reliability Specialist while developing the skills of others. 
  • Work with the team during mechanical tasks by providing written and/or verbal procedural steps for SWI development. 
  • Ensure Predictive Maintenance (PdM) is completed on production equipment using instruments, including but not limited to, an infrared camera and ball bar technology and appropriate software. Complete Predictive Maintenance PMs as necessary. 
  • Ensure Condition-Based Monitoring (CbM) routes are completed on production equipment using instruments, including but not limited to, ultrasound and vibration analysis tools and appropriate software. 
  • Perform leak surveys, leak repairs, and repair validations using ultrasound technology. 
  • Provide job notes on work orders of work performed in a CMMS using an iPad or computer. 
  • Use a computer for running software for Predictive tools and machine diagnostics, as well as for communication and data trending purposes. 
  • Provide support in cradle-to-grave responsibilities on reliability projects from concept to build, install, and debug. 
  • Troubleshoot equipment and take actions and/or make recommendations for improving reliability. 
  • Install and test new components on equipment and monitor results over time. Develop these skills in others. 
  • Provide input and actions for solutions to complex problems with the goal of increasing machine uptime. 
  • Work cross-functionally with skilled trades, engineering, and production employees to meet department objectives and increase equipment uptime. 
  • Initiate and participate in documented troubleshooting studies on equipment to outline opportunities for improvements. 
  • Provide oversight for future reliability-based positions (Reliability Helper). 
  • Perform Maintenance Technician Level III position responsibilities or assist with repairs, when necessary. 
  • Maintain safety awareness in accordance with MIOSHA standard Lockout Tagout, Confined Space, and Hot Work Permits. 
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and formal training. 
  • Comply with all IATF (International Automotive Task Force) policies and procedures. 
  • Required to work in a team-based environment and independently. 
  • Must accept direction from various management team members. 
  • Must be able to work with outside vendors. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Essential Skills and Experience: 

 

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of verified mechanical experience. 
  • Must be able to perform routine work without instruction or guidance and draft general instructions for new lines of work or special assignments. 
  • Must be a self-starter who manages workload without direction from Maintenance Supervisor or Reliability Engineer. 
  • Knowledge and experience working in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Knowledge and experience with Preventive Maintenance, CMMS programs. 
  • Knowledge of Electrical – PLC, CNC controls, machining, grinding, and assembly. 
  • Knowledge and awareness of Predictive Maintenance tools, such as Infrared, Ultrasound, and Vibration Analysis. 
  • Must have up-to-date technological training and experience on newer state-of-the-art equipment or be willing to attend training to further build on existing skill sets. 
  • Must have own tools. 

Preferred Skills and Experience: 

 

  • Journeyman preferred. 
  • Manufacturing experience. 
  • Experience in the Automotive industry. 
  • Marysville plant experience as a Maintenance Tech. 
  • German and/or Spanish language skills.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of the job, the associate is exposed to an engineering lab atmosphere with some office exposure. The engineering lab includes a machine shop, where the associate is exposed to potentially hazardous equipment and moderate to high noise levels, both requiring the use of protective equipment in order to ensure the safety of the associate.
