HR Generalist - 3rd Shift

Plans and carries out policies relating to all functions of Human Resources activity by performing the following duties in a union environment during off shifts. Assist manager and HR specialists in providing organizational needs. Implements organizations culture through customer service, training and counseling.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage employee relations in union environment. Respond to first step in grievance process, participate in discipline meetings and answer questions about personnel policies, procedure, and contract administration.
  • Develop and Maintain relationship with internal costumers. Establish a presence on the factory floor to build trust and communication.
  • Responsible to counsel peers and first line supervision in cultural topics such as ZF corporate policies and initiatives, vision, or goals and objectives.
  • Responsible to lead off shift training on topics such as safety protocols and policy, labor and/or employment concerns or regulations as needed or directed.
  • Conduct investigations for discipline, discrimination or harassment claims. 
  • Implement processes during the off shift such as attendance counseling, layered process audits, grievance investigations and meetings, payroll inquiries, etc.
  • Contributes to the maintenance of records and reports to conform to EEO, ADA, and FMLA regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining general safety compliance and supports OSHA compliance.
  • Performs necessary safety or incident investigations during shift hours.
  • Contributes in the planning and onboarding for meeting the off-shift personnel requirements.
  • Conduct exit interviews and terminations.
  • Assists in administration of wellness programs encouraging employees to participate.
  • Contribute to HR staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars in the organization as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining required shift reporting, charts and department metrics.
  • Participate on labor teams, arbitrations, and mediations as needed. Fields initial stages of grievance process and documents grievances filed and tracks step in the process for grievances.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
  • Participates in all HR sponsored events.
  • Assists in the selection and onboarding of off shift team leaders. Complete all other duties as assigned.

 

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree and 1-3+ years of related experience. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving, conflict resolution and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail, exhibit strong analytical ability.
  • Good working knowledge of full HR competencies.
  • High degree of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and the ability to quickly learn and use other systems and software packages.
