Position Summary: Support Engineering Department functions, including but not limited to, performing quality and warranty teardown evaluations, assembly projects, working with other departments and areas to perform related tasks as need or assigned. Works together with engineering and quality to perform detailed investigations or builds for product development, failures or warranty issues. Help organization to continuously improve the quality and reliability of our products and manufacturing processes.
Position Responsibilities:
- Ensure the Axle Lab Area is organized & has the necessary resources & tools to perform tasks.
- Perform and document detailed analysis of warranty issues and other product failures.
- Support the warranty review process related to root cause analysis of failure and corrective actions.
- Coordinate product and process engineering tasks or projects at the manufacturing plant level.
- Utilize QDM for engineering tasks as assigned.
- Locate and move product / containers as needed for drive unit extraction and replacement.
- Coordinate with logistics to maintain FIFO and transparency regarding container moves and SAP changes.
- Maintain inventory accuracy in road test, teardown, and non-production parts crib.
- Maintain inventory accuracy for parts in WIP or finish good inventory that is used for engineering purposes.
- Maintain & continuously improve the general housekeeping, 5S, & effectiveness of the area (road test, teardown, and non-production parts crib).
- Ensure proper technical documentation pursuant to TS-16949 procedures and requirements in the different ZF systems (SAP, Axalant, QDM, etc.).
- Coordinate ZF test vehicle regular maintenance.
- Support 0-mile & warranty review process related to root cause analysis of failure & corrective actions.
- Support new product projects during the complete Product Development Process, including but not limited to selection of supply base, quality planning, proto and preproduction builds, and product evaluations.
- Perform related tasks as needed or assigned.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Training/Education Requirements: Pursuing Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field required.
- Strong computer skills required; candidate must be proficient in MS-Office Suite, with proficient understanding of MS Excel in Macros and formulas.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Must be self-motivated, with ability to prioritize and accept direction from multiple sources.
- Must have good interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work in a team environment.
- Fluent in English language.
Preferred Skills and experience:
- Previous manufacturing experience.
Physical demands and work environment:
- Must be able to perform repetitive tasks in a specified time while standing.
- This position is required to do extensive walking, pushing & pulling throughout the production areas.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. (11 kg) and use fine motor skills to handle parts or tools in a repetitive production environment.
