About the Team:

ZF Axle Drives Marysville, LLC, located in Marysville, Michigan, is a state-of-the-art facility specializing in the manufacturing of axle drives for Stellantis. The plant is known for its clean, climate-controlled environment, ensuring a comfortable workspace. The Controls Engineering team consists of dedicated professionals, including both Controls Engineers and Controls Technicians, working across all shifts. This position focuses on production support with opportunities for project work. Collaboration with maintenance, production, and IT teams is a key aspect of the role, ensuring smooth operations and addressing any issues that arise. This position will be on third shift (10:30pm - 7:00am).

What you can look forward to as a Controls Engineer:

  • Prepare component and assembly process cost estimates and capital investment requirements to support financial decisions required to evaluate new business opportunities.
  • Ensure team involvement to review product design and manufacturability to ensure an efficient, robust, capable and cost effective manufacturing method which meets customer requirements and ZFPS.
  • Work closely with tool, tooling, gages and machines designer / manufacturer to define requirements / specifications for a process that meets project goals and ZFPS.
  • Visit machine suppliers to monitor status versus plan to ensure meeting customer target dates, be present during pre and final acceptance. Responsible for the implementation of the equipment on the floor from delivery to hand off to production.
  • Coordinate the acquisition of components, tools and tooling needed for building prototypes as well as for defining necessary quality control methods.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Assume complete process ownership of assigned new project, manufacturing or assembly area and provide appropriate level of floor support
  • Responsible for creating work instructions to ensure a safety and proper operation of machine during set up, changeovers and daily activities.
  • Coordinate the creation of flow charts, LSC, PFMEA, CP, gages acquisition and process inspection methods to ensure a reliable product quality control during production.
  • Responsible to define spare parts subject to wear, define supplier, minimum and maximum inventory levels.
  • Support APQP and PPAP process to document and monitor new and existing programs. Create when necessary engineering change requests through Axalant.
  • Monitor manufacturing cost during series production to ensure it adheres to plan.
  • Create documentation for production team training and play an active role as a trainer.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, formal training, reviewing professional publications, establishing and expanding professional networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Comply with all company and TS16949 policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Your profile as a Controls Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience 
  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft and CAD software.
  • Capable of making sound decisions in a timely manner.
  • Excellent communications capabilities with both verbal and written means.
  • Good time management and prioritizing skills
  • Knowledge of machining process, CNC programming, cutting tools selection, assembly and robotic process.
  • 2 year minimum experience of Core Tools application (PFMEA, APQP, PPAP, SPC).
  • GD&T knowledge
