Controls Engineer

We are looking for Controls Engineers to join our Gear and Assembly Manufacturing Departments in Marysville, MI.

 

Responsibilities

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Lead development of machine specifications and the acquisition of assets necessary to deliver the desired business result.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Support the development of business cases by providing estimated investment and manpower required.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Utilize engineering techniques and lean concepts with the intent on improving process flows, reducing operational expenses, developing new processes, and improving productivity across the business unit.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Serve as an internal consultant for issues related to maintenance controls in troubleshooting and problem-solving scenarios
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Provide technical guidance and expertise (lead, coordinate and facilitate troubleshooting) in the modification of hardware, software, electrical, and power transmission control systems to improve safety, reliability and operational readiness of manufacturing equipment.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Coordinate with Maintenance, Production, and IT to modify programming and controls systems involving PLC’s and PC’s.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Develop solutions and ensure the completion of long-term elimination of controls deficiencies; develop alternatives for controls equipment replacement, upgrade or program revisions that improve equipment performance and overall equipment reliability.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Analyze and challenge existing procedures in areas of responsibility throughout the facility, making recommendations and working with Operational Management to integrate solutions.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Develop concepts and implement solutions for network and automation.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Troubleshoot, plan, test, and coordinate the implementation of preventive actions in order to establish and verify a stable production processes in terms of Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Monitor and improve performance of processes with respect to OEE, cycle time, uptime, and FTT.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Establish, maintain, update, and administer controls documentation, including schematics.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Generate, prepare, and present reports daily to immediate supervisor.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Conform to all safety rules and use all necessary safety equipment.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.

 

<span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Essential Skills and Experience:

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Bachelor Degree in Engineering plus 2-4 years of related controls experience
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Experience with Assembly and/or Machining.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Must be self-directed and willing to work any shift.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Basic English language competency required.
  • <span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Strong computer skills. Must be proficient in MS Office
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Ability to set and achieve goals with minimum to no supervision; <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Demonstrated teamwork, interpersonal, and planning skills.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Knowledge and programming experience with AutoCAD, Siemens, Transline, Rockwell, vision systems and robots required.
  • <span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Knowledge and experience with dispensing systems, networks (ethernet, profibus, profinet), fastening operations, FDM/press operations, NVH, balancing (BTI), laser cutting/welding, etching, gear cutting, heat treat, gear machining, straightening, and gear testing.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Arc Flash knowledge.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Keyence/Cognex/FANUC vision systems.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">FANUC robots.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"ZF Sans"">Experience with GP Reaves and A/C Shucker dispensing systems, Atlas Copco DC fastening operations, Kistler/Promess and Atlas Copco FDM/press operations, Trumpf, LaserMech and Precitec laser cutting/welding, Keyence and Telesis etching, Gleason gear cutting and machining, heat treat, Oerlikon gear machining, Eitel straightening, and Klingenberg gear testing.
