Technical Key Account Manager

Main Accountabilities, Responsibilities, and Deliverables:

  • Responsible for coordinating customer engineering interface with focus on pre-development activities & white spots.
  • Building-up and maintaining customer engineering relationship with relevant (pre-) development contacts for all projects and products
  • Responsible for identifying/anticipating current and future technical product and system demands and requirements of customer, especially for cross-BU vehicle systems and drives related measures (customer individual engineering strategies, CSR process)
  • Responsible for advocating respective technical customer demand (VoC) into ZF-internal product management/strategy processes – driver for early development (incl. innovation and technology) and product planning (PSR process)
  • Being instrumental in managing and aligning customer expectation related to ZF's technical capabilities and limitations together with the BUs (mainly Engineering), across all Divisions relevant for customer
  • Initiating/leading/guiding technical pre-acquisitions in close collaboration with BUs and sales teams
  • TKAM is “linked” with diverse BUs/Divisions through strong internal networks
  • Co-responsibility for establishment of regular customer communication across top management levels for the vehicle domains Powertrain, Chassis, Interior/Safety and Electronics; also coverage of Digital Solutions if no dedicated Digital Ambassador in place for customer account
  • Support benchmarking activities (market needs, competitive benchmarks) and collaborate with key ZF departments
  • Organize and/or support customer technical events (e.g. Tech Day, Vision Zero Days)
  • Achieve growth, hit sales targets by successfully managing cross functional teams
  • Meeting deadlines, ability to work under pressure
  • Be responsible for customer satisfaction and relationship, whether it relates to issues of cost, delivery or quality.
  • Identify Ford trends and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status; proactively position ZF to support those needs.
  • Problem solving attitude, positive thinker who can quickly pinpoint problems. 

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Deep understanding of automotive business, technical trends, innovation (vehicle development process and early design/feature decision process at client)
  • Ability to drive innovative topics forward and to develop technical solutions in close collaboration and alignment with Divisions/BUs
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills (internally & externally)
  • Strong technical background and analytical skills
  • Strategic thinking/ long-term business construction
  • Strong (global) networking and coordination/cooperation skills
  • Technical or Business School Degree
  • Team player skills (internally & externally)

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in business or related field required. MBA preferred.
  • 8-10 years equivalent and similar experience in a multi-national company required.
  • Must have sales experience.
  • Prior experience working in a matrix organization.
  • Prior managerial experience.
