We are looking for a new colleague in the Friction Department at our location in Livonia, Michigan.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Support development and validation of new foundation brake friction formulations and brake pad technologies.
  • Create and develop brake pad requirements and associated test methods for next generation braking applications and component designs.
  • Develop tools related to test data processing and analysis, report templates, test procedures, test equipment proposals, and manufacturing data process and analysis.
  • Develop brake pad knowledge and performance metrics.
  • Support advanced vehicle level integration exercises during prototype and preproduction phase vehicle testing.
  • Interface with brake pad suppliers and manage supplier testing schedules and reports to meet program milestones.
  • Plan and execute DVP validation testing for OE projects to assure on-time and appropriate components, assembly, and vehicle level tests are carried out and conform to customer requirements.
  • Design, perform, and oversee engineering tasks to identify viable solutions for performance and manufacturing issues related to customer concerns.
  • Support VAVE activities on providing and validating cost-reduction ideas.
  • Support sourcing activities by providing assessments to component suppliers' capabilities and make recommendations.
  • Global collaboration related to testing methods, standards, and product improvements. 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.  
  • Prefer 1-2 years of automotive product engineering experience working in product development with a preferred focus on foundation brake design and braking systems.
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  
  • Ability to travel, as required.
