Engineer II-Mechanical

We are looking for a new colleague to join our Engineering Department in Livonia, MI.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will be responsible for the Design, Validation, and Implementation of Mechanical components used in Electronic Control Units (ECUs) for Automotive Braking Systems. These systems are used in Internal Combustion vehicles, Hybrid vehicles, Electric vehicles and vehicles using various levels of Autonomous Driving functions.
  • Support the Program team to achieve the successful launch of Braking ECUs.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment. You will be required to interact with various groups, including Program Management, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and Customers.
  • Generate Engineering Reports and Specifications. Interpret and apply Customer and Industry Specifications to the ECU and related Components.
  • Create Engineering Change Notices and related documentation and reports.  
  • Utilize Engineering Disciplines, such as DFMEA, DFM/DFA and CAE, to assure a robust design.
  • Create, develop, and release Mechanical Designs using CAD and internal processes.
  • Candidate will perform and coordinate laboratory testing of prototypes for component and system level characterization.
  • Will use Statistical tools to analyze data and provide recommendations.
  • Use Structured Problem-Solving techniques, such as 8D and 5 Phase reports, to solve complex issues.
  • Experience with manufacturing methods such as Stampings, Castings, and Plastic Injection Molding is a plus.
  • Experience with various material attachment methods is a plus.
  • This position may require some domestic and international travel.

 

Qualifications: 

  • 3-4+ years of Mechanical / Electromechanical experience
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field required.
