System Integration Engineer III

We are looking for a new colleague in the TTND Development Engineering Department at our location in Lafayette, Indiana

 

 Responsibilities:

  • The System Integration Engineer is responsible for representing internal engineering and business departments while supporting on-site customer product development initiatives, ensuring the seamless and timely integration of ZF products into customer engineering projects, and serving as a customer liaison for all engineering applications during product development.
  • Represents the business unit throughout product development programs at the customer and provides guidance/expertise for all technical and business-related issues and assists the business unit with business development initiatives and in acquisition of new business by analyzing the customers’ technical and commercial needs in order to develop technical strategies for new product programs while leveraging key relationships.
  • Develops early intervention strategies and product development opportunities by understanding market conditions and customer plans and aligning these to ZF product development initiatives. Compile and synthesize market and forecast data for ZF products.
  • Oversees and supports technical communication (design, testing, change-management and project/program management) by serving as the liaison between ZF global product engineering and local customer engineering departments. Supports design evaluations and package studies at the customer; coordinates the distribution of information and serves as the intermediary/gatekeeper for confidential data exchange.
  • Responds quickly and develops corrective actions for technical and business issues during product development initiatives. Coordinates prototype supply requirements (quantity, delivery, etc.) between ZF location and customer.
  • Serves as the technical interface to local ZF facilities (e.g. assembly, production, quality, purchasing and sales processes) regarding product engineering questions as well as the interface to the global engineering department.
     

 Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field required (Master’s Degree in Engineering preferred).
  • A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in transmission engineering and direct experience with OEM customer sales and/or engineering required.
  • Working knowledge of powertrain technology and the technical aspects of applications engineering within product design/development stages. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and the business/customer interface to supplier operations.
  • Familiarity with the durable goods manufacturing industry and an understanding of economic factors that impact key business decisions (specifically within the automotive industry).
  • Solid knowledge of Class 3-8 North American OEMs, their products, and the technical requirements specific to North America. Deep knowledge of the technical components and critical functions of both automatic transmissions and automated manual transmissions – specifically for the medium-duty and heavy- duty truck market.
  • Experience with data acquisition tools (e.g. ETAS INCA, CANalyzer, etc.) necessary.
  • Experience with North American Class 3-8 Engines a plus.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain CDL, is required.
