About the Team
We are looking for a new colleague in the Procurement Team at our location in Guangzhou.
What you can look forward to as Commodity Buyer Motor Components?
- Manage the supplier base for assigned sub-commodities and part families and drive cost reduction initiatives to improve business unit profitability and supplier competitiveness through strategic sourcing, new business awards, value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE), and commercial negotiations.
- Lead commercial negotiations and serve as the primary purchasing contact for assigned suppliers.
- Analyze global and regional supply markets and recommend supplier additions, removals, and nominations to the Strategic Supplier List.
- Conduct market research and monitor industry trends, technology developments, and cost drivers to support benchmarking and should-cost analysis.
- Lead and actively participate in cross-functional Part Family Strategy (PFS) teams.
- Develop, present, and execute commodity and supplier strategies aligned with global and regional business objectives.
- Prepare sourcing packages and present recommendations to sourcing governance boards, including but not limited to Sourcing Alignment Boards and Sourcing Decision Boards.
- Negotiate and manage purchasing contracts, supply agreements, warranty agreements, and other commercial or legal documentation.
- Forecast, track, and report cost savings through saving management systems.
- Perform total cost analysis, cost structure evaluations, and identify opportunities for continuous cost optimization.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across sourcing, supplier performance, and operational processes.
- Ensure compliance with all corporate directives, purchasing procedures, and company policies.
- Act as the regional commodity representative for Motor Components within the Asia Pacific (AP) region.
- Identify, evaluate, qualify, and develop new suppliers in the AP region based on capability, quality, delivery performance, financial stability, and cost competitiveness.
- Support cross-functional teams in supplier development, risk management, and supply continuity activities.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Your Profile as Commodity Buyer Motor Components:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, commodity purchasing, purchasing project management, or related procurement functions.
- Proven experience in supplier evaluation and selection, including assessment of quality, capacity, cost, and operational capabilities.
- Strong experience managing supplier quotation processes and leading complex commercial negotiations.
- In-depth knowledge of cost reduction methodologies, cost containment strategies, and value engineering techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret detailed cost breakdowns, perform should-cost analysis, and benchmark against best-practice manufacturing costs.
- Excellent negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
