About the team

The Casting Commodity Purchasing team is part of the global Materials Management organization and is responsible for sourcing High Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) components across the North American region. The team works closely with Engineering, Program Purchasing, Supplier Development, Manufacturing Plants, and global commodity teams to ensure competitive sourcing strategies, supplier performance, and cost optimization. Through collaboration with regional and global stakeholders, the team drives sourcing excellence, supplier development, localization initiatives, and continuous improvement across the supply base.

What you can look forward to as Commodity Buyer:

• Manage commodity purchasing activities for High Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) powertrain components and support sourcing strategies for assigned product families.
• Execute RFQs, supplier evaluations, commercial negotiations, and sourcing recommendations in alignment with cross-functional business objectives.
• Identify and develop regional and global sourcing opportunities to improve competitiveness, cost, quality, and supply performance.
• Support new product launches and localization projects through supplier selection, sourcing activities, and commercial negotiations.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Supplier Development, Program Purchasing, and Operations teams to achieve sourcing, cost reduction, and supplier performance targets.
• Participate in supplier reviews, performance assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the product lifecycle.
• Contribute to annual cost savings initiatives and implementation of commodity and part family purchasing strategies.
• Utilize purchasing and sourcing systems such as SAP, OneSB, SWAT, MAPS, and COPS to support sourcing and supplier management activities.

Your Profile as Commodity Buyer:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 3+ years of purchasing, sourcing, or supplier management experience within the automotive industry or a similar manufacturing environment.
• Experience supporting supplier sourcing activities, RFQs, commercial negotiations, and cost reduction initiatives.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across global and cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; SAP experience is preferred.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal. 
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required and support regional/global purchasing initiatives.
