About the team:
This is a new aftermarket engineering team that is being setup to support the North America Category Management team based in USA and Mexico. The purpose is to move these activities to this new aftermarket product engineering team based in Monterrey. This new aftermarket product engineering team will support the new aftermarket brake pads releases for North America.
What you can look forward to as an Aftermarket Product Engineer:
- Execute all activities required for the successful delivery of technical projects, both internal initiatives and customer‑driven programs related to product engineering and dynamometric testing.
- Provide comprehensive support to ensure the continuity of new product developments, the accurate maintenance of current technical data, and the availability of all engineering documentation and deliverables essential for production operations.
- Generate detailed 3D CAD models by leveraging reverse‑engineering workflows using a 3D scanning system to capture the geometric and dimensional data required to develop production‑grade and reference engineering drawings for the brake pad assembly. This enables precise comparison against supplier‑provided components and supports the identification of sourcing feasibility for all constituent parts.
- Work within the engineering laboratory at the ZF Monterrey Technical Center to ensure the availability of appropriate measurement and analysis equipment, as well as the tools required to support pad‑production tooling.
- Designing required tooling, coordinating with the ZF purchasing system to obtain supplier quotations, and managing the ZF CAPEX approval workflow to secure funding and procure molds, fixtures, and tools necessary for the manufacturing process.
- Some travel to visit dynamometers locations suppliers to support the performance test that our aftermarket product requires for new technologies, new formulations or verify the conformity of the product.
- Evaluate suppliers product engineering development, reverse engineering, testing and validating products.
Your Profile as an Aftermarket Product Engineer:
- BS engineering/ architecture degree – mechanical or electrical required
- Proficient English skills (reading, speaking, writing) since this position will be dealing with people in USA and suppliers from other regions of the world where English is the common language
- Microsoft Office Skills required
- 3-5 years of product engineering experience in an automotive or similar industry required
- Experience with understanding product drawings, dimensions, and tolerances required
- Experience working with teams and team members required
- CAD experience (to design measurement fixtures/tools) preferred
- Automotive components/systems experience preferred
