Metallurgical Engineer

Position Summary: Supports other Metallurgical Quality Engineers and conducts materials-related investigations, root-cause failure analysis, and special topics. Conducts metallurgical sample preparation and testing according to ZF methods and industrial standards.

 

Responsibilities

  • Supports and complies with established Company’s Corporate Principles and goals.
  • Understand and comply with Quality requirements such as automotive requirements
  • Monitor manufacturing processes and assess product quality to determine adequacy, capability, and ability to comply with customer specifications and company’s specifications.
  • Develop and maintain documents and procedures related to quality standards, risk analysis, lessons learned from product recalls, product audits, field returns and repairs, complaints, scrap, and rework, and retain documented information as evidence.
  • Interpret prints and measurement tools (GD&T).
  • Provide guidance to manufacturing personnel in the proper application of quality systems and tools.
  • Utilize basic quality tools along with problem solving and lean manufacturing techniques in the support of continuous improvement, root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions promoting lessons learned process.
  • Expert knowledge in Metallurgical Laboratory techniques and analysis methods.
  • Launch support for new parts and products with the respective customer or supplier.
  • Basic knowledge in various NDT analysis methodologies .
  • Train and mentor appropriate employees in measurement/test activities. Assist in ensuring appropriate employees adhere to requirements of QMS.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience (internship/co-op included)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Proven creativity and analytical methods with a high-level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Excellent English language competency both verbal and written.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of product line(s) and engineering design principles.
  • Experience with engineering change systems.
