ZF Transmissions Gray Court, LLC has job openings (multiple) for the position of Quality Engineer II, Gage Planning based out of its location in Gray Court, SC.
Job Duties: Responsible for monitoring manufacturing processes and assessing product quality of gage systems to determine adequacy, capability, and ability to comply with customer and company’s specifications; Develop and maintain documents and procedures related to quality standards, risk analysis, lessons learned from product recalls, product audits, field returns and repairs, complaints, scrap, and rework, and retain documented information as evidence; Interpret prints and measurement tools (GD&T); Coordinate with development and quality personnel to develop and revise gage designs; Define task lists and calibration specifications for new and existing gages; Develop test procedures for gauge systems, and perform evaluation tests, capability studies, quality audits, data reviews, and other engineering evaluations utilizing Six Sigma methodology; Create MSA analysis according to IATF requirements and monitor improvements; Utilize quality tools along with problem solving and lean manufacturing techniques in the support of continuous improvement, root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions promoting lessons learned process; Provide guidance to manufacturing personnel in the proper application of quality systems and tools; Develop and monitor test and inspection systems as needed for problem-solving project as well as creation and analysis of data; Create, implement, document, and maintain permanent corrective actions for internal and external 8Ds; Support Customer and Supplier Quality Engineers in direct discussion with supplier or customer; Initiate, monitor, and review corrective actions involving defective material from customer concerns; Conduct calibration and inspection activities of gauges prior to release; Coordinate the design of product acceptance equipment and the ordering of testers, gages, and equipment to support product acceptance; and Review design based on 2D drawings and 3D models for gage acceptance and ensure deliveries meet deadlines.
Requirements
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or closely related field, plus 3 years of experience in gear manufacturing for the automotive industry, and demonstrated experience with: GD&T and print reading to interpret blueprints and technical drawings; ISO 17025 for laboratory testing and calibration; Minitab; MSA, including Type I, Type II and Type III on AIAG and interpreting requirements; Precise gear inspection system and gage development; Gear special characteristics, including Mdk, Fr, Fi, fi, fHa, and fHb; Six Sigma Greenbelt; Creo, Catia, or AutoCAD for gage development; Axalant to manage BOM and ECR/ECO, and to use FDO to maintain technical documents; Statistical decision making with hypothesis testing, paired comparison tests, goodness-of-fit tests and Analysis of variance (ANOVA); Design of Experiment (DOE) and significance analysis using full-factorial and fractional-factorial methods; FMEA; Control Plan; and 8D methodology.
