Project Manager I - Systems and Processes

Position Summary: The Project Manager I – Systems and Processes is responsible for managing the project launch activities by ensuring successful progression of both internal and external customer milestones within product launch for specified transmission programs for logistics. This position is responsible for pre-series parts supply and pre-series transmission deliveries to the customer while managing many cross functions within the whole logistics department. This position leads the analysis, troubleshooting, and training surrounding system integration and business process implementation and supports in IT development and implementation through the utilization of SAP and other supporting interface operating systems within the ZF plant location.

 

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead continuous process improvement projects and apply lean concepts to existing processes, including standard work for planning and clerical functions, to ensure consistent performance, improved outcomes, and increase safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale.
  • As Team 9 lead, manage ZF teams (launch management, logistics, purchasing, quality and sales) and global SCM, in order to support business development, capacity, and continuity.
  • Oversee logistics cost calculations, customer contracts, sales volume forecasts, transportation concepts, warehouse capacities, and develop and evaluate different scenarios.
  • Manage project teams to identify the root cause, take lessons learned, develop future counter measures and prepare claims for customer and supplier discussions in case of unavoidable obsolescence.
  • Develop space requirements for parts storage in the warehouse, at line & at point of use, including dimensioning of necessary buffer areas, warehouse optimization and repacking area needs.
  • Act as primary contact/liaison to customer, identify information/data and resources needed by customer and ensure timely transfer of such information to appropriate ZF department/team and the customer.
  • Lead change processes regarding timing, costs and engineering implications and communicate to affected departments.
  • Ensure an efficient and timely decision-making process to expedite engineering changes.
  • Develop training curriculum and conduct formal training sessions for the key-users and end-users, in the optimal and accurate utilization of the ERP and interface systems that support the pertinent job functions.
  • Gather process information to analyze the feasibility of, and determine requirements and enhancements for, existing systems and system workflows; ensure the system design and functionality fits the needs of the users.  Relay appropriate analysis and recommendation to management.
  • Create and maintain project management framework to include project goals, scope, project team, timeline, and key milestones to ensure project alignment and timely delivery, leveraging the Agile framework.
  • Develop reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) as requested by management and/or other locations for upper managerial decision-making. 
  • Understand and comply with TS 16949 and ISO 14000 requirements.
  • Lead in other duties as it relates to this position.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in project management
  • Extensive knowledge with SAP and Axalant or comparable ERP and engineering change systems
  • Analytical abilities with a high attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work independently in a fast paced, high-volume environment
  • Proven ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel and management

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, specifically in Supply Chain, Engineering or Business Administration
  • Master's Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or Business Administration
  • PMP Certification 
  • Experience in SAP Material Management
  • Experience in Supply Chain/Logistics in the Automotive Industry
  • Experience of Lean Manufacturing and process orientated approach to problem resolution
  • Experience in information technology / programming background
  • Experience in designing returnable packaging concepts for purchased parts and finished goods
  • Knowledge of ISO-9000, IATF-16949 and ISO-14000 standards and requirements​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
